Congregational Ministry for the Changing Times.

My ministry of late has been as an Intentional Interim Pastor. The congregations that I have served are those whose pastors have left their pastorate due to retirement, have taken a call to a different congregation, or other such situations that create a “pastoral vacancy”. The process of such transition involves 5 primary tasks: coming to terms with their history, managing other staff and leadership transitions which often accompany the leaving of a pastor, reevaluating their identity (purpose, core values and their understanding of what God is calling them to do in support of God’s Mission), strengthening their connections to the larger church, especially the judicatory and accepting new leadership.

What you will see on this site comes mostly from and was done to further the transition at Reformation Lutheran Church in Rochester, NY and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rutland VT.  “Reflections” is blogging on a variety of topics such as change, conflict, and congregational life and ministry in this post Christian era. “Readings” are comments about books, etc. that I have found helpful and have used with congregations in my ministry.  “From the Pastor” are articles that I have written in the course of my work with congregations.  “Documents” are handouts that I have used with congregations.

Comments are welcome.
